Congressman Randy Weber and Brenda Weber will be honored at Texas A&M at Galveston’s 11th Annual Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Party celebrating their myriad contributions to the Galveston Campus, maritime industry and community.

As a member of the United States Congress representing the Texas 14th District, Randy Weber supports Texas A&M University at Galveston initiatives and has been a strong advocate for securing federal funding for a plethora of programs such as oyster research on the Texas Gulf Coast as well as the construction of T.S. Lone Star State. Congressman Weber has also engaged with the Texas A&M Maritime Academy to support maritime workforce development.

As a retired educator, Brenda Weber remains deeply committed to student success. Brenda has served as a board member for Gulf Coast Big Brothers Big Sisters, Galveston County Children’s Service, Crisis Pregnancy Center of Texas City and Alvin Community College Foundation in addition to being the founding member of the Kindred Hearts of Galveston County which offers support for the spouses of elected officials.

Giving back and supporting the region where they grew up has always been at the heart of the Webers’ efforts.

“We are excited to recognize and honor Randy and Brenda Weber for their continuous commitment and support of the Galveston Campus,” said Col. Michael E. Fossum ’80, Vice President of Texas A&M, Chief Operating Officer of the Galveston Campus, and Superintendent of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy. “On behalf of our campus and our community, we are looking forward to this opportunity to thank this dynamic duo for all of their efforts in support of our students as we look to drive our mission to lead the blue economy and educate the leaders of tomorrow.”

One large aspect of the mission of leading the blue economy is the upcoming arrival of T.S. Lone Star State, a training vessel that was funded with the support of lawmakers like Congressman Weber. With a district that stretches across the Gulf coast from Freeport to Orange, Congressman Weber is aware of the impacts that Texas A&M at Galveston has on the blue economy in Texas and beyond.

The Webers have been married for over 45 years. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
