Last week the Upper Texas Coast Sea Turtle Patrol, which is a collaboration of Texas A&M University at Galveston and Turtle Island Restoration Network, found their first Kemp's ridley sea turtle nest.

Dr. Sam Brody, professor of Marine Sciences, director of the Center for Texas Beaches and Shores at Texas A&M University at Galveston, professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at the Texas A&M University College of Architecture and a nationally known authority on environmental planning, was selected to be part of the inaugural class of Presidential Impact Fellows.

Morgan Beaver, a Marine Science student in her senior year at Texas A&M University at Galveston, gave an educational presentation on the history of the development and use of the Sargassum Early Advisory System (SEAS) at the 21st annual Sea Bean Symposium that was held for the first time at the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary Headquarters in Galveston.

Today, November 3 is Jellyfish Day and it is a reminder that jellyfish can be a real problem in Texas coastal waters and tributaries.

Texas A&M University has selected Dr. Antonietta Quigg, associate vice president for Research and Graduate Studies, Texas A&M University at Galveston, to participate in the 2016-17 Southeastern Conference Academic Leadership Development Program (SEC ALDP), a professional growth initiative that seeks to identify, prepare and advance academic leaders for roles within SEC institutions and beyond.
