A new dock, new ship and continued commitment to the Blue Economy defines the campus’ bold trajectory.

MARAD took possession of the ship on September 16 as the academy prepares to usher in a new era.

The academy will kick off the annual summer sea term with a dock party and sail away flotilla.

The annual training semester at sea includes two international locations and a partnership with Maine Maritime Academy.

The Galveston-based college's programs will explore the economic, social, political and ecological aspects of oceans and coasts.

2023 was a monumental year for Texas A&M University at Galveston. We celebrated world-class faculty, cadets sailed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico in a successful summer sea term, student researchers made strides in their work, and the Texas A&M Maritime Academy commemorated the start of construction of the TS Lone Star State.

On December 6, Texas A&M University at Galveston, the Texas A&M Maritime Academy, TOTE Services, LLC and Philly Shipyard, Inc. celebrated the keel laying for the fourth National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) destined for the Texas A&M Maritime Academy in Galveston, Texas in 2025.

On December 6, the Texas A&M Maritime Academy and Texas A&M University at Galveston will celebrate the keel laying of the new training ship, Lone Star State.

Texas A&M University at Galveston, the Texas A&M Maritime Academy, TOTE Services, LLC and Philly Shipyard, Inc. today celebrated the cutting of steel for the fourth National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) destined for the Texas A&M Maritime Academy in Galveston, Texas in 2025.

Aggies by the Sea welcomed Dr. Debbie Thomas as the new Chief Academic Officer, bringing her exciting and innovative new perspective to the Galveston campus.
