Texas A&M University at Galveston is excited to announce that 68 graduates walked the stage on Friday, August 8, to celebrate their academic achievements and commitments.

The commencement ceremony honored seven students graduating summa cum laude, six students earning magna cum laude and six graduating cum laude.

For the summer 2025 ceremony, summa cum laude graduates are Jackson Ballay, Layla Buhler, Lexi Clifford, Tristan Lowe, Bryce Neill, Jaby Tarkington and Steven Wales.

This semester’s magna cum laude graduates are Ian Stinson, Carly Standbridge, Charles Glorioso, Karl Joseph, William Plunkett and Brady Smith.

The cum laude graduates are Tyler Heffernan, Daniel Drastata, Gabriel Garcia, Shivansh Malhotra, Jacob Mott and Connor Reynolds.

A special congratulations to Steven Wales, who struck the ship’s bell, a tradition specific to the Galveston campus rooted in the time-honored tradition at sea. At every commencement ceremony, the student with the highest overall grade point ratio strikes the ship’s bell eight times to indicate the changing of the watch. This practice symbolizes that members of the current graduating class have achieved their goals and are now prepared to embark on the next journey of their lives.

In addition, graduate Madeline Cushman commissioned the same day into the U.S. Navy and Jonathan Rucker into the U.S. Naval Reserves, joining the Aggies who have come before in supporting and defending our country.
