Kelly Teichman ‘91 will be honored at Texas A&M University at Galveston’s 10th Annual Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Party, celebrating her contributions to the Galveston Campus, maritime industry and community as a whole.

“We are excited to honor Kelly for her continuous commitment and support of the Galveston Campus. Kelly continues a family legacy of hands-on leadership and selfless service for our Aggies, the Galveston community, and our national maritime industry. On behalf of our campus community, thank you for all you do to support our students and drive our mission to lead the blue economy and educate the leaders of tomorrow, ” said Col. Michael E. Fossum ‘80, Vice President of Texas A&M, Chief Operating Officer of the Galveston Campus and Superintendent of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy.

Teichman, who graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor of Arts in History, supports the university through several advisory and philanthropic roles. She is a longstanding member of the campus’ executive leadership advisory council, the Board of Visitors, serving on both the Executive Advisory and Industry Relations committees. She is also a member of the George P. Mitchell Society, an organization dedicated to supporting Texas A&M Galveston’s mission of marine and maritime research, education and training.

The Teichman family has a strong legacy at Texas A&M – Galveston. Teichman’s mother, Donna Teichman, was the honoree of the third annual Mardi Gras Parade Viewing Party in 2017 in recognition of her dedication to the campus. In 2014 the Teichman family, alongside T&T Marine Salvage, Inc. established the H. Rudy Teichman Scholarship in honor of Teichman’s father, a renowned community leader who paved the way in the Gulf Coast for marine services industry and oil-spill response technology. The scholarship supports Texas A&M Maritime Academy cadets pursuing an undergraduate degree.

Teichman, an expert in marine response documentation and contracting, serves as executive chairman of the board for the Galveston-based T&T Marine, the marine salvage and environmental response company her father founded in 1957. Her professional journey with T&T Marine has spanned over 20 years, where she has played a key role in coordinating logistical support for over 1,000 oil spill and salvage operations.

In addition to her leadership at T&T Marine, Teichman is actively involved with several local, regional and national maritime industry organizations. She was elected as chair of the board of the American Waterways Operators in 2024, making history as the first woman to hold this position. She is on the board of directors of the Gulf Intracoastal Canal Association. Teichman’s commitment to improving the safety and environmental stewardship of U.S. waterways is further demonstrated through her role as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Houston-Galveston Port Coordination Team and the Galveston and New Orleans District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Navigation Restoration Team. Teichman also serves as a member of the Texas Waterways Association, Offshore Marine Service Association, Women’s International Shipping and Trade Association, Waterways Council and Women in Marine Operations.
