The Gulf Research Program (GRP) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine today announced 11 grant awards totaling $341,283 to assist in the recovery of Gulf Coast scientific research efforts impacted by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Two Texas A&M University at Galveston researchers have been awarded grants to conduct work on marine science and marine biology projects.

Their names are Alicia, Rita and Ike. There’s even one known by the number 1900. These and other hurricanes have killed thousands of people, destroyed scores of buildings and wreaked havoc on Texas and the nation.
