In 1986, the inaugural Sea Camp had approximately 200 young students in attendance. Since then, Sea Camp has been a mainstay of summers at Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Dr. Sammy Ray, a world-renowned marine biologist and one of the founders of Texas A&M University at Galveston, died here earlier today at age 94.

They're called Sea Squirts, and they represent Texas A&M University at Galveston’s youngest campers. For the first time its 28-year history, Sea Camp is offering the Sea Squirts Program for four- and five-year old children to experience the wonders of a marine environment, while accompanied by a parent.
