Saving Sea Turtles: Slash’s Story

This week, the Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research celebrated its second anniversary. During their first two years, the Center cared for over 85 turtles, and volunteers spent thousands of hours focused on conservation efforts.

As the National Park Service looks to cut $300,000 in funding previously earmarked for sea turtle conservation work, Dr. Christopher Marshall is left simply wondering why.

The Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research at Texas A&M University at Galveston was just awarded a $99,984 state wildlife grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to tag sea turtles in Galveston Bay.
